Dear John Review

I recently read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.

Dear John tells of a man named John Tyree. On a leave of absence from the army,he decided to visit his dad in North Carolina. His father didn't say much,so he decided to go to the beach to surf. When he was finished he saw two very pretty girls with two guys on the pier. One of the guys dropped a purse in the water. So,John decided to dive for it.That's when Savannah and John fell in love.He later learned that she wanted to help autistic children. Then,he had to go back to to the army after his leave.Even though they were sending letter's,they still were somewhat distant.
When he came back on another leave, they got to see each other, they fought a lot. When he went back to Germany, two very emotional things happened to him.First,he got an earth shattering letter from Savannah. She told him that she was in love with someone else.(Which he later learned was their mutual friend,Tim.)Then, his dad died.He needed someone to talk to.So,he visited Savannah. He discovered Tim,her husband, had skin cancer. So,he sold his father's coin collection to put towards his funds.

This book was very interesting.I felt the emotional pain each character felt. This is defiantly not a feel good book.It is very sad indeed.

Around the World in 80 Days review

I recently read Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne.

Phileas Fogg is a very strange man.He seems to be very reserved man.The only club he belongs to the Gentleman Reform Club. One day,at one of their meetings, his fellow clubers made a large bet. They bet that he could travel around the world in eighty days.
So,he and his servant took off.Their first stop was in India, where they rode an elephant, witness a strange tribal ritual, and even save a young girl from being burned for a sacrifice..The from there, she joined them on their journey. Then from there, they rode on different types of transportation and went to different places, such as Hong Kong and San Francisco. And in the meantime,Mr.Fix,a detective is following their every move because he think Mr.Fogg robbed a bank. There were many times when they thought they were going to loose. For example,a herd of buffalos blocking a train tracks. But when they came back to London, they were a day late. But Phileas and the indian girl got married .That is when they discovered they were a day ahead! They won the bet!
I was really looking forward to reading this book. But,frankly, this book lacked adventure.I did, however, enjoy learning about different parts of the world.

I liked this book because it had a lot of tender moments. It also teaches that you do not know what you got till it is gone.

Going Rogue Review

I recently read Going Rogue by Sarah Palin.

Going Rogue tells the story of Sarah Palin,Alaska's governor. She starts by telling of her childhood, her parents, and her siblings. Then she tells of how she met her husband Todd Palin. She runs for mayor, then advances to become governor of Alaska. She focused on Alaska's main asset:oil. She had a lot of people against her.But she still stood by what she thought was right for her state! One day,at a fair, she got a call from Senetor John McCain to ask if she would like to be his vice president running mate for the 2008 election. She and her family got attacked in every way imaginable. But one thing that was obvious was her love for her country and Alaska. And even though she and McCain lost, she still lost with a humble attitude.

I will be 100% honest,I went into this book thinking I'd be bored with all politics and whatnot. But Palin really put a lot of personal things in it that makes her very relatable as a human being.I loved every page, even if I did not understand everything said!
