I recently read The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis.
Shasta is the son of a fisherman who wants to sell him into slavery. So,Shasta decides to run away. That is when he discovered horse named Bree that could talk and also was from Narnia. So,they set out north. But they were not alone.Someone was following them,They discovered it was a girl and her horse, who also were running away. Her father was trying to force her into marriage. So,they all decided to take the journey together. They dressed in ragged clothes so they would not be recognized. But when they got to the city gates, the guards mistook Shasta for royalty. But,he soon met the real prince, who looked a lot like him. So,Shasta was able to escape. When he did,he realized he was at the place he was to meet the others if they got separated. He waited and waited for them, but they never came. But little did he know,Aravis the girl who traveled with him,was with her old royal pal,Lasaraleen. They tried to disguise her so nobody in the area would notice her. They hid in a hidden room for quite some time. Then, the both parted ways.Eventually, she reunited with the rest of them and they continued north. They traveled through a barren desert. And despite their udder tiredness, they made it to their destination:Anvard. But,when they got there, a lion attacked Aravis, wounding her greatly.Everyone but Aravis was lucky enough to escape.Later, when Shasta was riding,he heard a voice, which he later discovered was Aslan,Narnia's ruler. He was in Narnia, where he dined with dwarfs. In the end,he was called to battle.Even though he had no clue whatsoever about warfare, they still won the war!
I love the Narnia series!I think this book teaches a lot about valuable things like being humble, loyalty, and teamwork!I also liked the places they characters travelled, even though you might not always know where that place is!Lewis' mind is so creative! He is my second favorite author,(next to Nicholas Sparks!^_^)
